Is Joy Ride worth watching? ›

If you enjoy comedies with a solid storyline as well, offering more than just cheap slapstick comedy, then director Adele Lim's 2023 movie "Joy Ride" certainly is well-worth taking 95 minutes to sit down and watch. When Audrey's business trip to Asia goes sideways, she enlists the help of Lolo, her childhood best friend, Kat, a college friend, and Deadeye, Lolo's eccentric cousin. Their epic, no-holds-barred experience becomes a journey of bonding, friendship, belonging and wild debauchery that reveals the universal truth of what it means to know and love who you are.

The cast was announced between August and October of the same year, and filming took place in British Columbia throughout the latter month. Joy Ride had its world premiere at SXSW on March 17, 2023, and was released in the United States on July 7, 2023, by Lionsgate Films.

As the initiative continues and more screens are converted with Laser at AMC projections by Cinionic technology, more and more movie fans will be able to watch all of those anticipated 2024 films with improved image contrast, maximum picture brightness, more vivid colors and brilliant images.

Is the film based on a true story? Writer/director Lim tells TODAY.com that the story of Audrey, Lolo, Kat and Deadeye was loosely inspired by her own friends. She says all her friends did in their 20s was "hang out, go out partying and tell stories about our messy dating lives."

There is a lot of drinking and drugs in the first half of the movie. Overall I would say that it's probably best left for 16+ unless your kid is super mature about sex and you're okay with them watching and hearing the things in this movie.

Joy Ride is a solidly entertaining X-rated comedy that will be sure to give you a good laugh. It follows a group of American-Chinese friends who travel to China for a business trip which quickly descends into chaos. A road trip descending into chaos doesn't exactly sound original, and it isn't.

It was released in the United States on October 5, 2001, and in the UK under the title Road Kill on April 26, 2002, and in Australia as Roadkill. The alternate titles were because of the negative connotations of “joy rides” as stealing cars rather than fun roadtrips.

This movie has so many screenplay/directing problems, and only works thanks to Jlaw's beautiful performance. I can not say that Joy is a bad movie, but it does feel disjointed and not so much because of the script, but the director who apparently never seem to know what he wanted to do with this story.

The taste is really good. I like the variety of flavors. It satisfies that sweet tooth while still loosing weight. The price could stand to be less however or the size of the bag needs to be bigger.

If you want some intense love story, Ao Haru Ride or its English name Blue Spring Ride is the right choice. Story move fast and our heart simultaneously beating with the character. I hope it will be season 2 which is will be the final season I guess.

Joy Ride 2 certainly doesn't live up to the first one, but it's still a bone-chilling and entertaining ride.
